As a start-up at the intersection of tech, fitness, and gaming, Zwift had to spend its early years solidifying their fundamental value propositions. It had to be a training tool, without losing its fun gaming roots. It had to be a game, without skimping on workouts or training features. Over time, Zwift began accomplishing what it set out to do. It had build a global community of cyclists and runners, and collaborated with Olympic cyclists, IRONMAN races, the three cycling Grand Tours — Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta de Espana — and more.
Only in their 6th year did they begin to pour resources into their creative advertising. Now marketing was always there in some form, but Zwift had never really served up agency-level advertising before.
A Director of Creative Advertising was brought on, and the Zwift ad campaigns kicked off.
The central tagline of Zwift became “Fun Is Fast,” reflecting Zwift’s central ethos of “fun” plus its commitment to helping its users achieve their personal goals faster than ever.
The Launch Spot, featuring current & former pro cyclists Geraint Thomas, Tanja Erath, and Rahsaan Bahati, plus pro triathletes Jan Frodeno, Lucy Charles-Barclay, and Eloise du Luart.
